Top Tye

On Memorial Weekend Heather, Andy Maser, James Bagley and I headed up to the Top Tye for a good creeking run. When we got there we found out that it was running really high. We scouted most of the drops before we met up with Boomer and Lane Jacobs. Andy, Boomer and Lane decided to run it.

After the spout we watched Lane and Boomer run Monkey Cage, both went well. Then they all decided to portage Crack In The Earth. At this level the first two holes looked pretty bad but the final one just looked terminal. Next we met them at Log Choke Falls, it looked runnable because most of the wood has flushed out but there is a tree wedged horizontally at the base of the drop that it looks like you will hit. We watched them all portage and head down stream.

We then beat them down to Alpine Falls, and waited for them to arrive. If you've never been to Alpine Falls, it's a very intimidating drop. At the most crucial moment you are passing by a terminal hole at the very top of the drop. If you do get pushed right and somehow get flushed free you will get pushed into rock and sieves forty feet below. After a bit they came and scouted Alpine Falls. Boomer decided to run it first and it went great, Lane ran it right after him, and again it went great.
