The Thompson River is a high volume fairly narrow river, the pictures here are taken when the level was at about 16,000 CFS. Their are two different put in's, the one up stream will giver you a nice warm up before you enter any difficult rapids, the other one is right at frog. Frog, the ultimate wave with two playable holes on each side of it. Below frog is a nice class III rapid with big waves that can really push you around. The next rapid is run straight down the middle, again big waves and swirly currents. Then comes Cutting board, this could possible classify as a IV- as long as you stay river left. The river splits up from a big rocky island and on the left is very swirly currents and nice waves to go through, its a lot harder then it looks just because of the currents. On river right is a huge river wide hole that looks extremely sticky and meaty, this has been run before but most people avoid it. The frist pictures are of frog and then the rapid right below it.

The next rapid then Cutting Board

Another standard rapid just down stream. Their are many more rapids on this section but I was unable to get pictures and I can't remember what all of them were like, but what I do remember is that it is all big waves almost no holes accept fore one rapid that has one on river right, very easily avoidable even when boat scouting. Also the last rapid is worth noting, it starts out with a huge diagnal wave that is very surfable but hard to stay on and then comes probably the biggest wave train on the river, huge fun. This is a very beautiful river, very deep and very swirly currents. You will have trains constantly passing you by and while you float their are some very interesting rock cliffs, natural and man made.
