Beavertail is the perfect play spot for spud boats. It's a short, compact, retentive wave/hole. Best in the winter and early spring when the Deschutes gauge at moody is between 5600 and 7400 cfs. The best level is right around 6200 cfs, You'll be able to get big air all year round.

There's usually a short line in the eddy because it sits almost at the end of the Deschutes River access road, 10 mi. below Sherar's falls. After the falls the road turns from asphalt to washboard gravel thats been known to pop more then a few tires.

It's about 2 1/2 hrs east of Portland. Take I84 to The Dalles, exit 87 then get on highway 197 to Maupin. Take a left on 216, follow this until you pass Sherar's Falls and hit the Deschutes River access road. 10 mi. below this the road starts to climb high and away from the river. At the top of the hill look down where an island splits the river. The foam pile in the river right channel is beavertail. Have fun!
